MK1Engineering

$ 2,837.50

*****We are currently booking 3 transmission restorations for a total of 4. Once all are booked, the process will begin and we will keep all customers updated throughout the process. This generally takes anywhere between 30 and 90 days but can take between 6-12 months depending on work load, parts availability etc. It is also worth mentioning that I am happy to prep your transmission for shipment, however, all actual shipping costs are to be paid by the customer.

A complete restoration of your 020 Gear Box is $5675.00 This listing is to place a deposit on the service  (1/2 of the total) so that we can receive and get started on your gearbox. The remainder is to be paid once the restoration is complete.

This includes all OEM quality syncros, bearings, seals and an ARP bolt kit etc etc. installation of an LSD is no additional labor. All preload and specs are measured with factory tools. There is no one who will do a more thorough rebuild on your 020!! If I am restoring your transmission that is sent to us, I will do a complete tear down with detailed pics - showing its current condition before we get started. If any hard parts (gears, shafts, etc) happen to be damaged and need replacing, we will notify and work with you on a case by case basis.

The standard finish is an Aluminium cast finish - as it was from the factory. The shift lever, clutch release lever and all hardware will be re-plated to original specifications.

Thanks for all of the interest and questions we have received. I hope to clear some things up by adding a little more information. We have received a number of questions regarding the cost, parts & labor involved, so I will do my best to explain:

I personally have traveled the globe searching for and purchasing NOS parts for these for the last 20 years. In the past, I have had success purchasing most of what’s needed to carry out full 020 restorations. Luckily, I purchased all that I could in bulk. The down side is that a good number of these parts are No Longer Available, so my inventory is not getting re-stocked any time soon. There are some parts that I have not been able to keep in stock and those parts have become very hard to source within the last year (2025-2026).

As far as I know, no one else offers this level of restoration- simply because a good percentage of these parts aren’t available. There are a number of people who can do a good job repairing your 020 and getting you back on the road, but that is not the name of the game here. This is a comprehensive list of what we replace when carrying out a full restoration-

                                                                                                                                              ---pushrod bushing-

And… I’m sure there are a number of things that I’ve failed to mention.

Aside from that, I use  the proper measuring tools to set every pre load, circlip, and a torque wrench on every bolt.. Every time.

Sure, I could do it all by feel and things would work out fine, but that’s not the way I do things.
